Dermal fillers are an excellent way to reclaim your former youthful glory without the time and financial commitment of surgery. Fillers are specifically designed to turn back the clock on facial aging and restore smooth, youthful-looking skin. Treatment is quick and virtually painless, and the results can last six to nine months or more. Dr. Nancy Snyder is a trusted Fort Oglethorpe dermal filler provider who uses products like Juvéderm to help her patients reclaim a youthful and attractive appearance.

How Dermal Fillers like Juvéderm Work

Every dermal filler behaves differently, depending on the formulation. Dermal fillers like those in the Juvéderm collection are formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance responsible for keeping the skin moisturized, nourished, smooth and supple. With age, the body’s supply of hyaluronic acid dwindles, depriving the skin of the hydration and nourishment it needs to stay taut and youthful. Juvéderm is ideal for replenishing this supply of hyaluronic acid and plumping the treated area while minimizing the appearance of prominent wrinkles, creases, folds and depressions.

Juvéderm products can be used for the following purposes:

  • Soften lines and wrinkles, including parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth
  • Plump up the lips
  • Smooth vertical lip lines
  • Fill out the cheeks
  • Improve the appearance of scars, including those caused by acne
  • Restore rounded youthful contours to the face

If you are interested in reclaiming a youthful appearance, Dr. Snyder can recommend the Juvéderm product best suited to your particular needs and goals.

Why Choose A Dentist for Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers ChattanoogaDentists are facial specialists with ample training and an intricate understanding of oral and facial anatomy. Dr. Snyder has a unique eye for esthetics and years of experience working with the face’s blood vessels, nerves, muscles and bones. Our dentist is familiar with the dynamics of facial muscle expression and is more equipped to address cosmetic concerns with facial tissues than other providers. She knows precisely how and where to administer injectables to achieve balanced, natural-looking results.

Injected anesthetics are second nature to dentists with the training and expertise to provide comfortable and quick dental treatments. While other injectable providers may rely on topical anesthetics to minimize patient discomfort, a dentist can use dental anesthesia for a nearly painless experience.

Dermal fillers can improve the appearance of a “gummy smile” and may be used in place of dental crown lengthening. Fuller lips with injectables can reduce the appearance of excessive gum tissue and can improve the retention of removable prosthetics, such as partial dentures. Our dentist may also use fillers to decrease the appearance of black triangles that form between teeth due to gum recession.

What Are the Benefits of Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers offer immediate results with no downtime. While Botox can take several days to smooth wrinkles, Juvéderm adds instant volume to the treated area. Fillers are a complementary treatment for cosmetic dentistry procedures and treatments that improve your overall facial appearance at the same time as your smile. You can decrease lines and wrinkles and restore lost volume for youthful, plump tissues and a beautiful smile.

Dermal Filler Consultation

Dr. Snyder can discuss your injectable options during your cosmetic dentistry consultation or dental exam and determine which filler would work best for your esthetic needs. She will work your filler treatment into your cosmetic dental plan and discuss your possible results and how often maintenance treatments may be necessary to maintain a youthful appearance.

Be prepared to discuss your esthetic concerns, medical history, current medications and other aspects of your overall health to ensure a safe and effective dermal filler treatment.

Recovery After Dermal Filler Treatment

While most patients resume regular activities right after their dermal filler treatment, it is important to stay away from intense physical exercise for up to 48 hours to minimize bruising and swelling. Some patients may have an “overfilled” appearance initially, but this should subside in a few days. Ice and massaging the area can improve most side effects within a few hours or days of the treatment. However, the majority of patients go back to work or their daily schedule right away, looking refreshed.

What to Expect During Treatment

Dermal fillers like Juvéderm are administered similarly to Botox® Cosmetic. Treatment is very quick and can be performed in Dr. Snyder’s office, normally in 30 minutes or less.

First, you and Dr. Snyder will identify the specific areas of your face that need correction. She may make several markings on the skin to guide her during treatment and then cleanse the injection site(s).

Using a thin needle, Dr. Snyder will inject small amounts of the filler just underneath the surface of your skin. She may gently massage it to achieve the desired results. Additional filler is administered as needed. The amount of filler required and the total treatment time depend on the severity of the wrinkles, creases or depressions.

After the injections, you can apply an ice pack to the treated areas to reduce swelling and discomfort. The results should appear fairly quickly and will last for six to nine months or more, depending on the particular product used.

To maintain your results, you should plan to re-visit Dr. Snyder every few months for touch-up treatments.
